It Is You He Awaits

Monstrance.12

“Jesus is not on His Eucharistic throne to receive the adorations of the angels and to enjoy the company of the blessed. These He finds in heaven.

But He is on His Eucharistic throne to receive your adorations, to listen to your confidences, and to console and alleviate your sorrows and trials.”

(Father Jose Guadalupe Trevino from The Holy Eucharist)

Expose Thyself!

“Like the sick who expose their diseased bodies to the healing rays of the sun, expose miseries, no matter what they are, to the beams of light streaming forth from the Sacred Host.”

(From “The Holy Eucharist” by Father Jose Guadalupe Trevino)

Make Him Happy!

We beseech Mary Immaculate that She herself keep company with Jesus in our souls and make Him happy as no else has so far succeeded in doing.

We beseech her to offer to Jesus fitting reparation, both for our infidelities and for the many insults He every day endures throughout the world from sinners.

(St. Maximilian Kolbe from For the Life of the World – St Maximilian and the Eucharist by Jerzy Domanski, O.F.M. Conv.)

Lasting Embrace

“Come to the foot of my tabernacle and, far from the impure and degraded world, breathe in an atmosphere of purity. Come and eat My Body and drink My Blood, and I shall live within your heart, and My arms shall enfold you in an embrace which it depends on your free will to make last till the eternal embrace in heaven.”

(From The Holy Eucharist by Father Jose Guadalupe Trevino)

We Have Such Little Generosity

A word that ought to cover many a Catholic with shame and confusion once came from the lips of a person raised in Protestant tenets and surroundings:

Sanctuary

“If I believed in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, I should spend all my life before a tabernacle, and no power could tear me away from it.”

Does this not suffice to put to shame our little generosity in visiting Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

(From The Holy Eucharist by Father Jose Guadalupe Trevino)?

Do Not Look For Excuses

“Do not look for other excuses. Try it, and find out by your own experience. Do not wait until tomorrow. Today, go and spend a few moments with Jesus, whether He is within the tabernacle or exposed in the monstrance.

Let your weary and wounded heart be penetrated by the peaceful atmosphere of the  sanctuary and your soul be bathed in the light streaming forth from the Eucharistic Sun.

And, tomorrow, I am sure, you will return.”
