“It is my desire to know and love God. In addition to daily Mass, Morning and Evening prayer, reading good spiritual books, and offering the day to God, it is when I sit before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament that I am drawn into a close relationship with Him. How so?
First, I must block out all the busy thoughts that are constantly running through my mind. I begin with a prayer for peace of mind and openness to hearing His voice, and I rest in Him. Sometimes, I will focus on a question related to my concerns either about the world or family, or faith. Often, our conversation begins through a reading of His Word in the Bible, some other spiritual reading, or just the perusal of the two readings contained in the Office of Readings. It is a conversation whereby I hear His voice, not through the noise of verbal speech, but through the enlightenment of my mind.
With the Blessed Sacrament before me, the silence within the Church, and most often, the solitude of being alone with our Lord, I am blessed with an experience of deep and pleasant conversation. I am conversing with the Lord and He with me. And I am growing in my knowledge and love for Him.
Thanks be to God!”
